Acne, which stands for ‘ambition to create novel expressions’, was launched in 1996 as a creative consultancy brand bridging the gap between art, fashion, entertainment and technology. The following year, founder and Creative Director Jonny Johansson began to develop the brand's clothing line and released a denim collection. The Stockholm-based label has since expanded to include ready-to-wear ranges for men and women, footwear, accessories, and bags. With particular emphasis placed on tailoring, custom-developed fabrics and an eclectic use of materials, Acne Studios balances understated design with impeccable attention to detail.
