As cotton can often be prone to shrinking when it is washed and dried, it is recommended to check the individual care label for each piece and follow the instructions carefully. When it comes to cleaning cotton and cotton-blend materials, it is recommended to use a lower temperature wash at 30°C or below. Colored cotton garments should be turned inside out before washing. Before allowing to air dry naturally, cotton can be gently stretched when they come out of the wash to restore shape.
Lace is a beautiful but delicate material, so it is best to check how to clean and care for it correctly in order to extend the life of your garment. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibres permanently if left untreated for too long. We advise hand washing your lace garment in warm water, unless specified on the item’s care label. Use a mild detergent, and allow the lace to soak for around 30 minutes. Rinse well, and press out excess water. Never wring or twist lace fabric. Lay flat and allow to dry naturally, before folding and storing in a drawer. To minimize the risk of damage to your lace garments, it is recommended to always place them in a laundry bag if you do clean them in the washing machine and use a gentle and cool wash cycle.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. Some silk products are labelled as strictly ‘Dry Clean Only’, while others have ‘Dry Clean’ as the recommended cleaning method but may also be hand washed or machine washed. If you do decide to hand wash silk, always use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent in order to protect the silk’s natural properties. Avoid spot cleaning silk, as rubbing in only one area can cause the material to lighten in just that spot. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If you must wash in the machine, select a gentle, cold-water cycle, place in a laundry bag for additional protection and promptly remove from the washer to reduce any wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
