Creating a wardrobe of reliable staples isn't easy, but Max Mara's collection of tops is a good place to start. Crafted from materials such as silk, cotton-jersey and breathable linen, the brand’s range has expanded to include blouses, shirts, T-shirts, long-sleeve and short-sleeve tops.
Available in neutral hues as well as bolder patterns, Max Mara's elevated staples deserve a place in every wardrobe. Wear yours casually with jeans and trainers, layered underneath tailoring or tucked in with a skirt.
As cotton lacks natural anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties, it requires more frequent washing. We recommend hand or machine washing in cold water of 30°C or below. Colored cotton garments should be turned inside out before washing. Gently stretch cotton to restore the original shape and air dry naturally.
Linen is a reliable option to keep you cool in the Summer months. It is best to check the care instructions on the label before cleaning, but linen can usually be hand washed or put in the washing machine. Regular laundering will lead to softer garements over time. Typically, linen can be washed in lukewarm or cold water, on a gentle machine cycle and with a mild detergent is best at protecting the material’s fibres. Avoid bleach, fabric softener and wringing out. Lay linen garments flat to dry. Store your linen garments in a cool, dry place, and avoid wrapping them in plastic.
Silk is a beautifully luxurious fabric, and often requires special care to keep it looking its best. Before attempting to clean your silk item, we recommend checking the care label for instructions as some silk is dry clean only, and others are washable. Some silk products are labelled as strictly ‘Dry Clean Only’, while others have ‘Dry Clean’ as the recommended cleaning method but may also be hand washed or machine washed. If you do decide to hand wash silk, always use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent in order to protect the silk’s natural properties. Turn the item inside out, and soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water to remove any remaining soap. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If the care label advises machine washing, then ensure a gentle, cold-water cycle is chosen. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
