How To Care For Your A.L.C. Dress
Most dresses from A.L.C. are made using polyester, viscose, silk or acetate. Due to the delicate make-up of these materials, extra care must be taken when storing your dress. Many garments in this collection are made from silk. Always check the clothing care label before washing, as many items are dry clean only.
The below care guide is based on silk dresses only, so please check the care label on your dress prior to washing or storing.
Step 1 – Fill a sink or tub with cold water and a mild, silk-friendly detergent. Then immerse your silk garment into the mixture.
Step 2 – Leave your A.L.C. dress to soak for a few minutes.
Step 3 – Agitate the dress gently and very slowly.
Step 4 – Use fresh water to rinse away the detergent and water mix.
Step 5 – You can use a fabric conditioner in the final rinse to help keep its hydrated feel or even a little hair conditioner.
Step 6 – Rinse thoroughly in cold water.
Step 7 – Avoid wringing out your silk dress, as this can harm the fibers. Instead, ball your silk together to get rid of any excess moisture. Then lay the garment out flat and roll in a towel to soak up any leftover moisture.
Step 8 – Leave to dry by lying out flat.
Step 9 – The majority of wrinkles in silk can easily be steamed out, but if you don’t own a steamer, simply hang your silk dress in the bathroom and leave it to steam while the hot shower is running. If steaming doesn’t remove the creases, then you can iron your silk dress safely.
Step 10 – Turn your silk dress inside out and select a low-level heat (or silk setting) on your iron.
Step 11 – Once your dress is dry, you can iron it safely by placing a cloth between the silk and iron. Avoid spraying or wetting the silk when ironing, as this may cause water stains.
