It's Official: This Is 2017's It Dress

By Stephanie Bain

Yellow dresses are about to make it big. From the Golden Globes red carpet to the reboot of Beauty and the Beast, yellow dresses are set for a major comeback. It’s true—they were all over the SS17 runways too (we’re talking Roksanda, Stella McCartney, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Erdem, just to name a few) Officially approved as the number one hue for spring, yellow’s going to be everywhere.

It might get a bad rep for being notoriously hard to wear, but as it turns out yellow isn't so risky after all. Get it right and it actually flatters all skin tones. The hue—in all shades, from lemon to mustard—also works just as well for evening as it does for during the day.

You can keep it simple with slip dresses from the likes of Victoria Beckham and Topshop. Or if you really want attention, opt for maxi dresses and gowns from Self-Portrait and Stella McCartney—because is there anything that makes more of an impact?

Pantone might have called 2017 the year of Greenery, but trust us, it’s really all about yellow. Shop our edit of the best dresses featuring this It color.
